Suburban Sown is a small backyard nursery based in Southfield, MI specializing in medicinal herbs, edible plants, and native flowers grown with care for both people and pollinators. Our goal is to make gardening approachable and accessible, whether you have a large backyard, a small patio, or only a sunny windowsill. Everyone deserves the chance to cultivate beauty, flavor, and healing from their own plants.

We create thoughtfully designed container gardens for culinary, herbal, and pollinator-friendly uses, making it easy to grow meaningful plants in any space. Whether you’re hoping to elevate your cooking with fresh herbs, dry your own tea blends, explore herbalism practices, or attract more bees and butterflies to your home, Suburban Sown offers plants and garden kits to help you get started.

In addition to live plants, we seasonally offer dried and bulk herbs for culinary and herbal uses. From homemade teas and spice blends to natural crafts and gifts, we love encouraging creative ways to incorporate herbs into everyday life.

Rooted in both gardening and art, Suburban Sown also creates handmade flower presses using recycled materials to help preserve the beauty of seasonal blooms. We occasionally host workshops focused on flower pressing and botanical art, where participants can learn how to transform flowers into lasting keepsakes, cards, and framed artwork.
